Swire representatives are speaking at the Asia LEDS Forum 2017

On 05/12/2017, Mr. Vu Quang - Deputy General Director of Swire Cold Storage Vietnam Limited attended and sharing a speech at the Asia-Pacific Low Carbon Development Forum (ALP) Forum, from 05 to 06/12/2017 in Ho Chi Minh City by the Organization of Local Governments for Sustainable Development in South Asia (ICLEI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment organized to mobilize resources for implementation of NDC in Asia.

The forum was organized with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); LEDS Global and Climate Knowledge and Development Network (CDKN); United Nations Development Program (UNDP); UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (CC); Global LEDS working group on agriculture, forestry, land use; Working Group of LEDS Global Traffic.

There is also a World Bank; United Nations Environment Program - University of Technology (UNEP DTU); ICLEI Consulting Company; German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ); BMZ and Regional Coordinating Center (RCC) for Asia and the Pacific of UNFCCC; Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES).

Mr. Vu Quang introduced Swire Group, Swire Cold Storage refrigerated warehouse and Swire new project with rooftop Photovoltaic system in Bac Ninh. The PV system with a capacity of 308kWp, annual output reached 292,000kWh, reducing the annual emission of 170 tons CO2 equivalent, the expect payback time is 8-10 years. Modular system, durable, quick installation and reliable operation. GIZ has provided substantial support for this project.

Mr. Vu Quang shared the experience of project implementation, arranging investment capital for the project in Bac Ninh and considering projects with higher capacity in Binh Duong.

He also proposed that the Electricity of Vietnam and the Government adopt policies to buy back or net metering the excess electricity from solar system, promote policies in line with international commitments, in conjunction with suitable policy of capital funding to support clean energy development projects.
